How we run

Recruitment that moves with the route.

The clients we work best with run depots, transport networks, distribution operations and coach fleets. The cost of a poor placement on a route is missed deliveries, downtime and tachograph trouble. We work like the operations teams we serve.

01

Licences verified.

Class 1, Class 2, 7.5T, CPC, ADR, Hiab, tanker endorsements, coach D and D1 - all verified before a CV reaches you. Driver CPC hours checked. Tachograph history reviewed where applicable.

02

Routed before introduced.

Right-to-work, references from previous transport managers, accident record, points and notice period all confirmed. The shortlist is what you act on, not what you start triaging.

03

One consultant per client.

The person who picks up your call runs the whole search - briefing, sourcing, vetting, offer, mobilisation, and the day-90 check-in. Nothing gets handed to a back-office researcher.

Ten disciplines, one desk

Where we run permanent transport searches.

How a brief runs with us

Four steady steps. No surprises.

We move at depot pace. Deliberate, paperworked, predictable. You always know where the search is on any given day.

01

Discovery

One call to lock the role, the shift pattern, the salary band against the route, the offer process and the make-or-break qualities. We come prepared, not script-reading.

02

Search

Network first, then targeted outreach. Every approach references your business carefully - we name nobody we have not already prepared the candidate for.

03

Shortlist

Three to five candidates, ranked against the brief with a short written note on fit, accident record and notice. Licences, CPC, ADR and right-to-work confirmed before introduction.

04

Mobilise

We coordinate the offer, manage counter-offer pressure, line up the start date and any pre-employment checks, and check in at week 2, 6 and 12.

Where Cross Drive Recruitment fits

UK driving recruitment has plenty of agencies. Most of them work on a transactional, requisition-by-requisition basis, often through temp-to-perm churn. We do not. Cross Drive runs direct-hire searches for transport operators that would rather build a stable depot than rotate agency drivers through the gate. Long retention with our clients is the proof point we rely on.

We staff permanent driving and transport roles across UK distribution operators, parcel networks, retail delivery operations, fuel and chemical tankering, coach and PCV operators, builders' merchants, food and drink distribution, and the third-party logistics providers that serve them.

The clients who get the most from us

Transport managers, depot managers, operations directors and HR business partners at UK transport operators who would rather work with one named consultant who knows their business than a national brand running a generic process.

Disciplines we deliberately do not cover

Pure white-collar tech, healthcare clinical, legal partner search, and senior corporate executive search above £200k base sit best with sector specialists. We will tell you within one call if your brief is not a good fit so you can place it where it lands fastest.
